Apprenticeship

The Other 4 Year Degree

Construction trades offer some of the best-paying jobs available today, and Vaughn Industries is proud to provide several apprenticeship programs to those interested in gaining these valuable skills. We are state and federally registered with the State of Ohio Apprenticeship Council and the US Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship.

Our construction trade options include:

4 YEAR PROGRAMS

  • Electrical
  • Mechanical (Sheet Metal Worker)
  • Mechanical (Pipefitting)
  • High Voltage Substation Electrician

3 YEAR PROGRAM

  • High Voltage Transmission and Distribution (Line Erector)

On-the-Job Training

Apprentices are required to log a minimum of 2000 hours per year of apprenticeship in their designated trade.  Apprentices gain knowledge through hands-on learning at the Vaughn job-site.

Classroom

Apprentices will also gain knowledge through labs and bookwork in apprenticeship classes. Vaughn offers the Northwest Linemen College curriculum for our high voltage trade classes, and follows the NCCER curriculum for our electrical and mechanical classes.  Apprentices are required to obtain a minimum of 144 hours of classroom training every year.

Rate of Pay

Apprentices will be eligible for rate increases throughout the program.

Completion of the Program

When an apprentice completes the apprenticeship program, they will become a journeyman by trade. They will receive a Certificate of Completion from the State of Ohio and Vaughn Industries.  Graduates in the high voltage trades will receive a Certificate of Completion for the 600 hour Lineworker Certification Program through Northwest Lineman College.

Vaughn Industries state and federally approved apprenticeship programs are affiliated with Marion Technical College.   Upon graduation from the Vaughn Industries apprenticeship program, an apprentice will have completed the technical training requirements for an Associate Technical Studies Degree in Construction Technology.
