An embedded culture of safety starts with ownership – leading by example. Vaughn Industries stands by our vision that Safety is a value, instead of a priority, and is built into everything we do, because when priorities change, Safety will not be pushed aside.

Voluntary Protection Programs

The Voluntary Protection Programs recognize employers and workers who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national averages in their industries.

Vaughn Industries became a part of OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program in 2008. Since then, we have worked every day to continuously improve, change and grow our safety culture into what is today. Being a part of VPP is something we take pride in and value as company. We strive to continue to better ourselves year after year and teach the next group of employees what our culture is and how that ties into being a VPP contractor. We are proud of our workforce and continue to hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Our Commitment to Safety

We expect all employees to be a part of our safety culture, which includes open communication, and taking part in our Constant Awareness Protects Everyone (CAPE) Program. We want employees to tell us what we are doing right and what could we improve upon.

We encourage everyone at Vaughn to be a part of the safety process. Whether it’s our estimators, new hires, or employees that have been here twenty plus years, we want everyone to be proactive with safety so high hazard tasks, safety questions, or specialty PPE can be thought out early on.

Safety is not just the responsibility of supervisors, which is why we give all of our employees the authority to intervene whenever they spot a potentially unsafe practice. Working together, we eliminate unsafe behaviors and reinforce safety at every turn.

Our Hazard Assessment, THAs, are performed before each task and when conditions change. This facilitates communication and gets everyone on the task involved.

Routine Self-Inspections on all jobsites are performed and documented by site supervisors, Safety Specialist and/or Project Management.

Investigations of Incidents and Near Misses are conducted to determine the root cause. Shared Learning Summaries are distributed to all employees following the investigation to create awareness and prevent future incidents.
