Electrical Portion

The electrical scope of the Delaware Byxbe Campus project was extensive and included both the renovation of the existing Delaware Career Center building and the construction of new facilities. Key aspects of the electrical work included:

  • Renovation and New Builds: Transformation of the Delaware Career Center into a new Delaware Building Department/Community building, the construction of a new Sheriff’s Office Complex, a new Maintenance Bay building, and a fuel station.
  • Electrical Services: Installation of brand-new electrical services in each building with capacities of 3000A, 1200A, and 800A respectively.
  • Extensive Wiring: Over 150,000 feet of conduit and more than half a million feet of wire were installed across the campus.

Mechanical Portion

The mechanical scope of work for the Byxbe Campus involved significant HVAC installations across three separate buildings:

  • Renovation and New Builds: HVAC work for the renovated Delaware Career Center building, the new Sheriff’s Office Complex, and a Large Truck Storage building.
  • HVAC Installations: The project included the installation of 12 Air Handling Units (AHUs), 6 boilers, 5 pumps, and 124 Variable Air Volume (VAV) units.

Technology Portion

The technology scope of the Delaware Byxbe Campus project was essential in providing a modern network infrastructure to support the needs of the staff operating on the campus. Key aspects included:

  • Fiber Infrastructure: Installation of a robust fiber optic network.
  • Network Cabling: Implementation of all new network cabling throughout both the renovated building and the new constructions.
  • Wireless Access Points: Deployment of wireless access points to ensure comprehensive wireless coverage.
  • Access Control and CCTV: Installation of advanced access control systems and CCTV for enhanced security.
  • ERRCS (Emergency Responder Radio Communication System): Integration of an Emergency Responder Radio Communication System to ensure reliable communication for emergency responders.

Project Significance

The Delaware Byxbe Campus project is set to become the new civic complex for Delaware County, uniting various county functions that were previously scattered across multiple locations. This campus will consist of five buildings designed with a cohesive aesthetic, reflecting the forward-thinking mindset of Delaware County.

  • Renovation of the Delaware Career Center’s North Campus: This 140,000-square-foot building, originally built in 1974, is being renovated to house offices for Code Compliance, Regional Planning, Engineering, Facilities, the County Extension Office, Soil and Waters Division, and Roadways and Utilities. The renovation aims to create a “one-stop shop” for engineering and development services in Ohio’s fastest-growing county.
  • New Sheriff’s Office Complex: A state-of-the-art, 34,800-square-foot facility will serve as the administrative and patrol division offices for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Additional Facilities: The campus will also feature a new engineering vehicle storage building, a vehicle wash bay building, and a fuel transfer station. Future plans include a county dog shelter facility and a township fire station.
